QwkMnt - Quick-Attach Camera Tripod Mount

Introducing the QwkMnt! The world's best 3D-Printable camera mount!

Streamline your photo/video/streaming workflow by 3D printing a thoughtfully designed, sleek and functional tripod mount that makes mounting and unmounting your camera incredibly easy!

WHY QwkMnt? 🤔

  • Speed and ease! No more unscrewing your camera, messing up your framing, or wasting time! Simply rotate the lock, and you're ready to rock!
  • Unique Beveled Cam Lock keeps your camera secure and stable (no "slop")
  • Sleek and low profile
  • Lightweight (way lighter than metal mounts)
  • STRONG! With high quality PLA, it will suspend 5lbs easy (though I suggest 3lb or less)
  • Low-profile locking lever won't snag on straps
  • Need several mounts? Print as many as you want!
  • Save money! Print multiple QwkMnts for pennies (with no shipping to pay!)!
  • EASY to print (and you probably already have the hardware!)
  • Designed right here in the USA!
  • You will actually ENJOY mounting and removing your camera!

What you get 🛒

1. .STL files for the BASE, LOCK, PLATE, and NUT models
2. My Cura settings for BEST print results profile (for your reference)
3. Cura .M3F file to EASILY load all models into Cura Slicer in the correct orientation (for your reference)

⛔️ WHAT YOU DON'T GET (but may already have!)

1. A screw to attach your camera to the QwkMnt PLATE (1/4"-20 with 3/8" (or 10mm) shaft is most common). I designed the PLATE to work with common styles, like these:

2. A M3-10 (3mm diameter, 10mm length) countersunk screw to attach the QwkMnt LOCK to the BASE (like this one
(If you have a 3D printer, you probably have an extra M3-10 handy)

3. Optional: A metal 1/4"-20 nut (the printed nut works great, but if you may use a metal nut if you wish!).

⚙️ HOW TO PRINT:

IMPORTANT: ⚠️ The included Cura settings profile and Cura .m3f project file are for reference ONLY. Make sure you change the settings as needed to match your printer and filament.

1. If you use Ultimaker Cura slicer, open it and create a new project, then drag and drop the .m3f file into Cura.
2. Make sure that the PLATE and LOCK models are UPSIDE DOWN on the virtual printbed (no need for support material this way! 👌)
3. Suggested General Print Settings:
Layer Height: 0.2mm
Line width: 0.4mm (0.6mm may also work)
Wall line count: 5
Top layers: 4
Bottom Layers: 4
Fill gaps between walls: Everywhere
Filter out tiny gaps: Yes
Z seam alignment: User Specified
Z seam position: Front Right
Infill density: 10%
Infill Pattern: lines
Print Speed: ~30mm/s (slower is better for dimensional accuracy and finish quality)
Other settings will depend on your printer setup and filament choice.
4. I suggest printing in a high quality, durable material (my personal choice is 3D-Fuel Pro PLA)

🔩 Assembly:

1. Once cool, remove the printed parts from the printbed.
2. Insert your M3-10 screw into the matching countersunk hole in the BASE.
3. With the protruding M3-10 screw, screw into the hole in the LOCK. Tighten the LOCK against the BASE. There should be little to no gap between the parts, with friction to keep the LOCK from moving freely. BE CAREFUL to not over tighten and thus strip out the plastic in the LOCK (it may still work, but will be very sloppy)!
4. Place the printed (or metal) 1/4"-20 NUT in the matching hole in the BASE.
5. Thread the BASE onto your tripod's 1/4"-20 stud.
6. Attach the PLATE to your camera body using your 1/4" mounting screw.
7. Open (rotate) the LOCK counterclockwise about 180 degrees. Insert angled front of the PLATE into the front of the BASE and pivot downward so that it is flat. Rotate the LOCK closed.
8.YAY! All done! You're ready rock! 📸
